The Portuguese footwear exports have increased 3,2% in the first four months of this year. From January to April, Portugal exported 28 million pairs of shoes, in a total amount of 607 million euros.
The Portuguese footwear sales increased in nearly every market. In Europe it increased 4% with a highlight to the performance of France (growth of 7% to 136 million euros) and Netherlands (growth of 3% to 84 million euros).
Outside Europe the highlight goes to the remarkable results in the USA (growth of 28% to 22 million euros), Canada (over 4% to 5 million euros), Australia (over 45% to 4 million euros) and China (over 7% to 4 million euros).
Also to be highlighted are the good results in Latin America with the increase of the exports to Colombia to 86%. If these results are confirmed by the end of the year, it will be seventh consecutive year of the sector’s growth on overseas markets. Portugal has exported 700 million more pairs of shoes per year since 2010.
The industry’s exports already ascend to 2300 million euros a year.
